The Great Belt Oasis

This route offers a tranquil view of endless green landscapes scattered with farms until you reach the ferry that takes you to the southern islands of the Great Belt. Crossing Seland from North to South takes you back to the origins of the Viking culture and across grassy plains and small forests that form an idyllic mosaic of landscapes. Far from our consciences, the Vikings were not those violent settlers with horned helmets, as literature and the official story we know may have left us with, the Vikings were not those violent settlers with horned helmets. Rather, as we discover at our first stop in Roskilde, the first Danish town in Zealand, they were great seafarers who made shipbuilding a profession with a powerful engineering ambition.
